I wanted to get back to writing every day about things going on but was having so much trouble with getting back to work in Substack that I just did not do it any more. Basically gave up. I’m not interested in making money from content I write, so no need to stay for that. I do want to support certain witers I respect, so will stay for that. They use this platform to get out their articles and I am very glad they do. If there was another way to support their online work, I would. I buy books now and then.
I may leave Substack if I can figure out how to support writers I like here without having my credit card on file. So far, no way. Maybe if I have a Stripe account, connected to some other card, or bank, or paypal or something? Unknown.
Way too much PUSH
But Substack is getting way too complicated, too much PUSH of info at me, hard to find what I thought I was subscribed to. For example, Heather Cox Richardson, main source, does not appear on my list of authors I have subscribed to. Why I do not have time to find out. When I asked in the help chat I was told I don’t have any “paid subscribers,” so they could not help me.
Now I understand that “subscriptions” can mean authors I subscribe to, might even pay, mostly don’t pay for. But also, my “subscriptions” can mean people who have signed up or “subscribed” to my postings, then get my articles as newsletters.
If this is not confusing, I don’t know what is.
Way too much email, and no way to figure out how to go from being a full subscriber, mostly free, to being a follower, and not get email all the time. There are some options, if you can find them. Get newsletters in the app, not in email. Ok if you use the app, which I don’t.
I want to read all my favorite writers’s articles - but out of time. And I have these 6 books sitting on my table over there waiting to be read.
